Vuilverbrandingsinstallatie / Afvalverbrandingsinstallatie
Een nieuwe Afvalverbrandingsinstallatie werd gebouwd in Mai-shima, een teruggewonnen eiland van Osaka, in april 2001.
De formele naam van de constructie is “Mai-shima Factory of Department of Environmental Enterprise of Osaka City.” Een lange officiële naam, maar eigenlijk is het een afvalverbrandingsinstallatie (RIF). RIF draagt tegenwoordig altijd een soort donker beeld, maar dit gebouw is buitengewoon trendy. (zie foto’s hierboven)
Het lijkt op een paviljoengebouw met aan de buitenmuur een tentoonstelling van porselein beschilderde patronen gekleurd met rood en oranje; veel ui-vormige torens hier en daar en allemaal goud glanzend. Iedereen die min of meer over architectuur is geïnformeerd, kan vermoeden dat de ontwerper van het gebouw Friedensreich Hundertwasser uit Wenen is in samenwerking met architectenbureau Showa Sekkei, Inc., Osaka.
Hundertwasser, die vroeger een schilder was maar niet van geometrische lijnen hield, bouwde huizen zoals RIF.
Zijn Hundertwasserhaus in Löwengasse werd onlangs een bezienswaardigheid in Wenen.
Hundertwasser is begin 2000 op “De Queen Elizabeth 2” in de Stille Oceaan overleden.

A new waste incineration plant was built in Mai-shima, a reclaimed island of Osaka, in April 2001.
The formal name of the structure is “Mai-shima Factory or Department of Environmental Enterprise or Osaka City.” A long official name, but actually it is a waste incineration plant (RIF).
RIF nowadays always carries a kind of dark image, but this building is extremely trendy. (see pictures above)
It looks like a pavilion building with an exhibition on the outside wall of porcelain painted patterns colored with red and orange; many onion-shaped towers here and there and all in shiny gold.
Anyone who is more or less informed about architecture can suspect that the designer of this building is Friedensreich Hundertwasser from Vienna in collaboration with architectural firm Showa Sekkei, Inc., Osaka.
Hundertwasser, who used to be a painter but did not like geometric lines, built houses such as RIF.
His Hundertwasserhaus in Löwengasse recently became a landmark in Vienna.
Hundertwasser died at the beginning of 2000 on “The Queen Elizabeth 2” in the Pacific Ocean.
